Games, dreams and one Jedi

Games, dreams and one Jedi

Forgive me, Jesse Freeman, for I have sinned.  I crudely copied your idea to write about the games I have recently played. I am really a fossil and I don’t find much fun playing the newest titles. I feel they are mostly copies of a copy, remakes after another.

Most of my playing time has been consumed by titles Terraria, Civilization V and some old classics like Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and Red Alert. Yeah, I know. At least I told you about being a fossil. You want to know what scares me the most? It’s the fact that, if I don’t even want to play any new games, then how should I ought to make one?

What the hell am I doing?

Last week I participated on — yet another — game development course. I lasted out for one and a half hours before I was too hungry and bored. But still, I learned something new. Afterwards I wrote my first synopsis of a game I had planned. It made me feel good about myself to achieve some progress for a change. I also learned about GameMaker Studio, a piece of software how you can make games without actual programming skills. Be sure to check it out.

I have noticed a pattern in my bursts of creativity. There is a peak once or twice in a month where I really focus deeply into something cool, like game design, internet security or software in general. However, after a couple of days, it’s gone. It’s easy for me to start feeling down if I don’t have a new update for my blog. Maybe I’m just being too hard on myself. What if great ideas don’t just come up every day?

What’s my storyline?

I have been struggling in a hazy maze of game development for quite a while now. I have already tried some coding, some designing and practiced a bit of storytelling. I can see it now. Storyline makes the difference whether the game feels like a real game. My next objective would be to create the characters for my game.

In my blog, I’ve just wanted to write and create something new. I’ve been lacking the objectives of my blog. I really need a direction and I think I’ve found one. It’s called It may not be the most original one but at least it’s a start. Next, I need to figure out how to structure the site better.

Meet Jedi, the dark brown lord

Oh, and the dog in the picture is Jedi, both my and my girlfriend’s new dog. He’s been eating up all of my spare time and it’s quite okay!
